Thirty combinations came along and gave our first Eventers Showjumping at Duchy College a try today. Huge thank you’s to Tamsyn Hutchins and her Saturday evening team for creating a flowing and inviting course of fifteen jumps (seven show jumps followed by seven simulated cross country jumps and finishing with the joker fence – a slightly higher show jump). Riders had a. to remember where they were going over such a long course (and, sadly, not all of us did!); b. try to jump clear; and c. ride as close to the optimum time as possible.
Congratulations, therefore, to our winners of our three classes: Nicole Harding on Alba in class 1; Nicole again on Tara in class 2; and Amy Blake on Belinda Buttons in class 3. It was also good to see a few riders take up the clear round option at the end of the competition.
Thanks too to all who made the day run smoothly today: Tamsyn and Sydney Bond in the judge’s box; Pippa Hobbs and Gill Ross on duty at Secretary and Geoff Waterton, Vanessa Hunt and Lauree Morrish on duty out in the arena – it was quite chilly out there! Finally, a heartfelt thanks to all who stayed behind to help us clear up, particularly to Mary, Keith Brown, Michelle Phillips, Maria Osborne and Margaret Best but also again to Gill, Lauree and Geoff. We would all like to thank Rachael Squires for her hard work in sorting entries and times leading up to today.
Now we have made a start, we hope this competition can take a regular slot in the ECRC calendar.
